Sat Aug 4 21:57:23 2007 - I was so proud to have all the AFP's tubing sorted out. But when I put the pump package in place, I discovered some serious issues. Namely, the fuel line inputs to the fuel valve were going to interfere. Since the pump package's location was already set fore/aft, I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do. I guess move forward and see where things go. Guess I'll get started with the fuel line from the valve to filter (big gold cylinder on the right).

Sat Aug 4 22:22:08 2007 - I made my initial bend to go under the pump package and made the measurements for the "U" bend into the filter. The black axial line on the right helps me set the proper angle of the tubing.

Sun Aug 5 11:24:21 2007 - Uhhh...I really wasn't expecting these SNAFUs: 1) The pump's output (bottom right red cap) interferes with the right tank's feed and 2) the outlet of the filter interferes with the left tank's feed. Now, those tank fuel lines were a PITA to bend and I _really_ don't want to do that again. Hmmmm..ok, I'll work on resolving the right tank's side first.

Sun Aug 5 12:25:58 2007 - After some measuring, the solution was simple - substitute a 90deg fitting (MS20822-6D) for the existing straight fitting (AN816-6D). It took a little effort to get the MS20822 to line up pointing downward. I also considered rotating the Andair's right tank fitting to point aft (hence the blue line on the top cover), but there just wasn't enough room to make the necessary bends. I also got tired of the nut sliding down the tubing and under the pump package - duct tape to the rescue!

Sun Aug 5 13:09:09 2007 - The left tank's side was a little more, shall we say, interesting. I made some "reference" bends - in this case, what was the shortest "U" bend I could make and still be able to flare the end. Looks like it can be done.

Sun Aug 5 13:45:55 2007 - After some thought, I decided it would be better to bend the tube outboard slightly to further increase the distance from the tank's feed line. The reference bend is still attached to the output of the filter.
