February 22, 2004: Wow, I time without pictures. So onto the VS. I used two aluminum angles to ensure a straight trailing edge. I also used a rubber cement to help hold everything together.

April 3, 2004: Bending the ends of the HS trim tab. Since I don't home a band saw, I deviated from Van's plans on the construction of the forming blocks by using a carriage bolt to keep the blocks from slipping.

April 5, 2003: Making the leading edges of the HS elevators. I used 3/4" gas pipe, duct tape, C-clamps, and a pipe wrench. The whole trick is to keep the pipe close to the table while rolling. The C-clamps can be adjusted to allow the pipe to roll while still keeping the skin in check. A lot of patience and bending to make the final fit. Leather gloves work well here.

April 6, 2004: The elevators counterbalance arms are too long! How could this have happened? I quick e-mail to the RV-7 Yahoo list revealed that I needed to trim the HS skin so allow the counterbalance arms to swing. Thanks guys!
