Fuselage - Last Updated 10/25/2009
After a lot of fretting and procastinating, the longerons are finally bent. I sill have to put the bend/twist at the front.

No twist in the fuselage! What's funny here is that the instructions state to put the fuselage on saw-horses - which is fine. However, the bottom is curved. So I had shim the bottom to make sure that the side skins were level from side to side. Then I dropped a plumb bob.

Measured, remeasered, and remeasured the longerons. I do not want to screw these parts up - especially since the S&H on these would be expensive due to the length.

Per Van's, I had to trip the flange of F-729 at the F-706B bulkhead to allow the nutplate and shop heads to fit.

Hmmm, F-729A just doesn't quite fit. I've learned that if the holes don't line up, something is wrong. A little research led me to the conclusion that this is normal - it's just a very tight fit. The trick here is order of assembly (from back to front): First the F-707 bulkhead goes in, then F-729, then the F-730 plate, and finally, you squeeze in the F-706 bulkhead.

I had a lot of trouble riveting the wedge bars. Also, I had to reorder a set of the wedge bars because I drilled them by hand - big mistake. Start the holes by hand, finish them on the drill press.
