Sun Mar 2 20:11:47 2008 - Drilled the forward canopy brace. The 12" #40 drill bit really worked well in this area.

Sun Mar 2 20:11:28 2008 - And the fit is up to spec. I know a lot of builders fight with this setup getting it to open and close without the edges of the skin catching on each other. Time will tell how much I'm going to have to fight with it.

Sun Mar 2 20:11:20 2008 - I took enough material off to flatten the forward edge. I also put a little bevel on to allow the hinge to slip in a little easier.

Sun Mar 2 20:10:13 2008 - Some machinist's dye on the front of the hinge showed that it was contacting to front of the socket. So a little trimming of the hinge was in order.

Sun Mar 2 20:09:33 2008 - I found a couple of culprits that were not allowing me to achieve the desired distance between the forward top skin and canopy skin. This picture is taken straight up from under the canopy - the hinge is in the upper left of the picture. You can clearly see that the gap seal flange is hitting the canopy frame. I ended up trimming about 1/8" in various areas to allow the canopy frame to shift forward.

Sun Mar 2 20:08:55 2008 - I started on the canopy frame. Some of the welds needed a little attention to make the skin follow the frame and allow for a better fit.
