Sun Feb 22 15:09:45 2009 - The AFS manual states that the EGT probes can be placed anywhere between 2"-6", with 3"-4" being optimum, from the exhaust flange. The small blue mark is 2" which would have interfered with the spark plug assembly. The long blue mark is 3" and this is what I went with.

Thu Feb 12 07:56:55 2009 - I'm getting ready to put a hose order together for the fuel system. I'm not quite sure if I'm allowed to get away with this setup or not. The problem being that the hose "rubs" against the starter. I'll be putting an adel clamp at the top right bolt hole in the sump (bolt currently removed) and it looks like I'm covered back to the engine mount. I can't run the fuel line under the servo due to very limited space with the cowling. I thought about running the fuel line along the other side and around the back of the engine but that's where I'm going to have the alternator wires. Time for some advice from VAF.

Sun Feb 1 16:28:54 2009 - I received some requests for some extra pictures on how the VA-173-PC brackets were setup, so here they are. The trick is to flip and rotate the bracket for the mixture. I also had to persuade the bends a little to make things a) fit as close as possible against the sump without rubbing and b) to maximize the distance from the exhaust pipe.

Sun Feb 1 15:32:24 2009 - I'm trying to measure the location of the firewall pass-through to match the other one. I'm not particularly fond of crawling in under this thing.

Sun Feb 1 14:47:10 2009 - Here's the mixture full forward and 'R' for 'Rich' is up against the stop. The extension can be setup so that it can't unscrew and come apart (ie. more than half of the threads are used on both ends).

Sun Feb 1 14:45:55 2009 - I got my order from Van's the other day with the extra VA-173-PC (IO-360 THROTTLE BRKT). Also, I recently sent in my FM-200 controller back to AFP to have the mixture control reversed. Add to that, I ordered a 2" extension from Aircraft Spruce (P/N 10376-2). So far, things are looking pretty good.

Tue Jan 20 21:14:34 2009 - It's supposed to get rather chilly this evening so I'm going to leave a lamp on to keep the cowl warm in order to aid in curing the epoxy.
